ZapInvoice (zapinvoice.web.app) is a free invoice generator operated by The Unicorn Factory. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how it is handled, and your rights.
1. Data Collection
Depending on how you use ZapInvoice, we may collect the following information:
- Invoice data — business names, addresses, line items, and amounts you enter when creating invoices.
- Account information (Pro tier) — email address and display name provided through Firebase Authentication (email/password or Google sign-in).
- Email address — if you optionally provide your email (e.g., for updates or newsletters).
- Usage analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage statistics collected through Google Analytics (page views, feature usage, device type).
2. Data Storage
Free Tier
All invoices are generated entirely client-side in your browser. No invoice data is transmitted to or stored on any server. Your data is saved in your browser's localStorage and remains exclusively on your device. Clearing your browser data will permanently delete it.
Pro Tier
If you create an account, your invoice data and account information are stored securely in Google Cloud Firestore. Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest per Google Cloud's security standards.
3. Cookies & Local Storage
- localStorage — used to store your invoice data and application preferences locally in your browser.
- Authentication cookies/tokens — used by Firebase Auth to maintain your login session (Pro tier only).
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics. These help us understand how the app is used and improve it.
4. Third-Party Services
ZapInvoice integrates the following third-party services:
- Google Analytics — for anonymous usage statistics. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Authentication (Pro tier) — for secure sign-in. Subject to Firebase's Privacy Policy.
- Cloud Firestore (Pro tier) — for cloud data storage. Hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure.
5. Data Sharing & Selling
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party. Data is only shared with the third-party service providers listed above, solely for the purpose of operating ZapInvoice.
6. Data Retention
- Free tier: Data persists in your browser's localStorage until you clear it. We have no access to it.
- Pro tier: Account and invoice data is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
- Analytics data: Retained per Google Analytics' default retention settings (14 months).
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data stored by ZapInvoice.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete your account and all associated data.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent for optional data collection (e.g., email capture) at any time.
- Opt out of Google Analytics tracking by using a browser opt-out plugin.

8. Children's Privacy
ZapInvoice is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of ZapInvoice after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
